Last March, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, continued to run into serious legal woes. Then, he was arrested by US Marshals for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California. He was initially arrested for this in Beverly Hills, in November 2019, but still failed to do so.
Mr. Petty is facing 10 years in prison for this, as his upcoming trial date is set for June 29. According to court documents obtained by Radar Online though, he has been looking to get it postponed to August 10. This move was made by Petty in order to gain more time to review evidence presented against him.
Currently, Petty is still in a not guilty plea. Back in 1995, he was convicted of first-degree attempted rape. Petty went on to serve four years in prison. The victim at the time was jus 16-years-old. Petty allegedly used some sort of sharp object to force the girl into sex with him. Earlier this year, the victim also came out and claimed how Nicki and Petty supposedly got their friends to threaten her in order to stay quiet.
As far as the evidence, his attorneys would need to continue to go through 800 pages of reports, video and audio recordings, and more. Two new defense attorneys were also hired by Petty for assistance. As of now, Petty will have his trial on August 20 as opposed to the end of this month.
Last fall, Mr. Petty and Nicki also had their first child together, which is a boy. Nicki went on to share multiple photos of the baby boy’s growth. The couple had gotten married in late 2019 as well.
