Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” goes platinum

Last month, Nicki Minaj released her fourth single, of 2022. This was with “Super Freaky Girl,” as this record sampled Rick James’ iconic “Super Freak.” Super Freaky Girl went on to debut at number one in the US, and it gave Nicki her first number one solo single, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Super Freaky Girl also became the first number one solo single by a female rapper to debut at number one, since 1998. This was also done by Lauryn Hill at the time, with her classic “Doo Wop (That Thing)” single.

Now, Super Freaky Girl has reached another huge milestone. According to Chart Data, it is now at platinum eligibility, in the US. This comes after selling over 1 million units. Fans have been streaming this record heavily, as it’s been Nicki’s biggest hit of the year, and one of the biggest of her career.

This month, Nicki also released a huge remix, for Super Freaky Girl. This included features from JT, BIA, Maliibu Miitch, and Akbar V, and Katie Got Bandz. Nicki initially teased the remix, by revealing the hometowns of the featured artists on it.
