Without major backing, Nipsey Hussle jumped into the game and he has held it down right here in Los Angeles for eight years. Every year since 2008, Nipsey Hussle has released a new project. Independent mixtapes, or street albums as some call them, are what made Nipsey Hussle the star he is.
But, major mainstream doors opened for Nipsey Hussle when he announced his latest project. Titled Crenshaw, after his hometown, Nipsey Hussle had DJ Drama host the mixtape, but he also pressed up 1,000 hard copies. Each copy of the album cost $100 and Nipsey Hussle offered a ticket to his concert to go along with the project.
Jay-Z showed his support and he purchased 100 copies via Roc Nation. Helping to generate $1,000 for Nipsey Hussle, Jay-Z is definitely somebody who is high on his list. Nipsey Hussle talked to MTV News about Jay-Z showing support and he explained how it came together.
