Ten years ago, No Malice (then known as Malice) and Pusha T unleashed their unique style on the hip hop world. In the spring of 2002, the duo, collectively known as The Clipse, released their breakout single, “Grindin.'” Produced by Pharrell, the song went on to become a hit and set the stage for their debut album, Lord Willin.’
Out of the gate, The Clipse had a major hit and they helped to shed light on the growing hip hop scene in Virginia. Ten years later, the overall DMV area has produced such stars as Wale, Rolls Royce Rizzy, and Fat Trel. With these newer rappers out there, Pusha T has enjoyed a strong resurgence, due to his affiliation with Kanye West.
No Malice recently spoke to The Facts Remain about the years which have passed since the album was initially released. After the album, Lord Willin,’ was released, the project went platinum. Three hit singles were also came from the album. In the eyes of many, Lord Willin’ is viewed as a classic album.
