The 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards aired on BET last night with a star studded line up. With Fat Joe as the host, the 17th installment of the classic show was one to remember. Rising influencers of hip-hop culture graced the red carpet, as new winners were announced. Aside from Cardi B and 21 Savage taking the lead with twelve nominations, Yung Miami took home a surprise win. Her podcast show Caresha Please, won best hip-hop platform with N.O.R.E feeling upset about it. The host of the popular show Drink Champs, tweeted shortly after the award show saying “So nobody gonna say nothing about the podcast/media award? Ok me neither!!”

Yung Miami’s podcast Caresha Please, officially aired in June of 2022 on Diddy’s Revolt network, with him as the first guest. That episode earned more than 1.8 million views and over a 1 billion total impressions. However, N.O.R.E’s hip-hop podcast Drink Champs premiered in 2021 with more than 300 episodes to date, also airing on the Revolt network. Although both platforms are successful, N.O.R.E felt as though he should have won. The 305 Queen spoke on the “hate train” via Twitter letting fans know it didn’t phase her. Despite the negative backlash, fellow music artist  and fans showed support for Yung Miami’s win.
