NYC woman will lose eye after being attacked on subway

Three months ago, Elizabeth Gomes was on her way to work. Typical for New York City residents, she got on the subway. Also typical for most women, as she was going about her day, Gomes found herself being hit on by a man. However, men are becoming increasingly aggressive when they are turned down. Not only are men more open with insults, but some also have a tendency to get violent. Sadly, Gomes was a victim of the violence. This will cost Gomes her right eye.

Elizabeth Gomes is a 33-year-old woman who was trying to get to work. An employee for the JFK airport, Gomes was only on the subway to get to her place of employment. However, the Queens woman, who is also the mother of young children, encountered a homeless man at the Howard Beach subway station. As a result, she wound up in a situation that could have cost her life. At 5 am, while getting on the train, she encountered the man who changed her life for the worst.

Gomes wound up being brutalized by this man, simply because she turned down his advances. As a result, she has some dangerous injuries that have occurred on her right eye. Recently, Elizabeth Gomes confirmed that she will not just lose her sight in her right eye, but that she is losing the eye, entirely. All hope is not lost, however. In an effort to do what she can to fix the situation, Gomes is meeting with a specialist about getting a prosthetic eye on February 13, 2023.
