Thirteen years ago, Barack Obama was a state senator running for the open US Senate seat in Illinois. At the time, Obama was unknown and he spoke at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. His speech on hope and a real united nation, was in endorsement of John Kerry.
Eight years after this speech, Barack Obama would recruit John Kerry to be his Secretary of State. Moral of the story is that nobody should ever be counted out. While Kerry lost a close 2004 election, Obama would handily in 2008 and 2012, thus making him the president.
However, in a little over a week, Barack Obama will no longer be the president and Donald Trump will be. While many are still upset with this, Obama is urging those people to not forget the hope and the change and to accept President Trump. In a speech reminiscent of the one who made him famous, the world has come together to thank the current president.
