One of Pop Smoke’s Alleged Killers, 20-Year-Old Corey Walker, Denied Bail Request

It’s been over a year and a half, since the tragic murder of rising 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper, Pop Smoke. Four teenage suspects were initially arrested, with three ending up being charged. 20-year-old Corey Walker admitted his involvement, to an undercover police officer, and a 15-year-old suspect is said to have pulled the trigger.

According to The Shade Room, Walker was denied bond, on Friday. This decision was made by a Los Angeles County judge. Christopher Darden, the former attorney for Nipsey Hussle’s killer, requested the bond, but prosecutors reportedly filed a motion, claiming that Walker’s case was “not applicable for bail based on the letter of the law.”

At this point, Walker will now be held until his trial date. A preliminary hearing also ruled that Walker had plotted to kill Smoke, based on “scouting the house” that Smoke was renting an Airbnb at, in Hollywood Hills. The goal for he and the other teens, were to rob Smoke of the jewelry that he was showing, on social media. The 15-year-old also reportedly sold the Rolex watch that he took from Smoke, for $2,000.

Smoke also accidentally posted the home’s address, on an Amiri bag, that he posted to his Instagram stories. Walker’s next court date will take place in mid-October. The judge in this case also stated that the trial will take between 3-4 weeks to complete.
