Seven years ago, Oprah Winfrey revealed her intention of leaving daytime television in pursuit of her own network. Planning for her channel, the Oprah Winfrey Network, began in January 2009. Two years later, the OWN network was open for business.
In its brief history, the OWN network has dealt with his fair share of hardship. Since 2013, however, OWN has found its footing, in part, due to the Tyler Perry partnership. He has brought ratings juggernauts, “The Haves and The Have Nots” and “If Loving You Is Wrong.”
However, the OWN network has had the internet buzzing with its newest shows, “Greenleaf” and “Queen Sugar.” The shows have broken ratings records for OWN and have now set even more new records. These shows’ successes have propelled the channel to its best quarter in the history of the channel.
