While release dates came and went, one thing remained constant with Papoose and that was his affiliation with DJ Kay Slay. It turns out this almost did not happen, despite the focus Papoose had on making it in the rap game. Fresh off the long-awaited release of his debut album, The Nacirema Dream, Papoose looked back.

In the years leading up to the release, Papoose solidified himself in New York City as one of the hottest mixtape rappers out. With DJ Kay Slay hosting his mixtapes, Papoose turned himself into a legend. But, when his album kept facing delays, fans deemed him too hardcore for the industry.

But, in the day and age of the internet, who really needs the industry? Papoose independently released his The Nacirema Dream album. Having everything he wants, in terms of music, Papoose stopped by Vlad TV to discuss how he and DJ Kay Slay became as close as they are.
