Papoose talks new position at Tunecore, helping up-and-coming artists, and lessons learned from his music career on Hot 97 [VIDEO]

Papoose talks new position with Tunecore on Hot 97
Papoose isn’t a name many think of when discussing music executives. However, Pap successfully managed Remy Ma’s career, when she returned from prison. In addition, Papoose also transitioned himself from a hardcore battle rapper into a mainstream reality TV star. Clearly, Pap is underrated with his own business and marketing acumen. Tunecore didn’t overlook him, though. Instead, they hired Papoose to an executive position within the company.
Papoose rose to fame in the early 2000s, as Busta Rhymes’ artist. Although it is overlooked, Pap makes a brief cameo in the “Break Ya Neck” video. Later, Papoose and the late DJ Kay Slay formed a business relationship. This led to Pap being the first artist to sign to Kay Slay’s Streetsweepers Entertainment record label. As a result, Papoose signed a $5 million deal with Jive Records. Infamously, Pap turned the deal down.
Papoose still found mainstream success, when he joined the “Love & Hip Hop” cast. With the show on an indefinite hiatus, Papoose and Remy Ma have moved on. Recently, Pap took on an executive role working with Tunecore. With that being said, Papoose stopped by Hot 97. He sat down with Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg. During the interview, he spoke on Tunecore. In addition, he offered advice to rising artists, and spoke on his own career.
