Paula Abdul sues American Idol exec for sexual assault
Paula Abdul reinvented herself as an “American Idol” judge. She was one of many pop stars, during the 1980s. However, the past twenty years have seen her most closely associated with “American Idol.” Even with FOX ending the show and ABC picking it up, Paula Abdul is still tied to the show. Now, news has broken of her suing one of the show’s executives, Nigel Lythgoe, due to sexual assault.
Paula Abdul initially made her name as dancer for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, she was relentless in making things work. After that, Abdul began making hit records, and she became a household name, due to her music. Like most stars from that era, she was simply a star from that era. When the opportunity to judge on “American Idol” happened, she took it.
Paula Abdul recently returned to the headlines, but for unfortunate reasons. While it’s seemed like she’s had fun, she is now suing Nigel Lythgoe. She is accusing him of sexual assault, when they worked together on both “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Abdul said the first assault took place, early in “Idol’s” run. She accused Lythgoe of forcing her against a wall and touching her privates.
