Peacock Premium hikes prices, Adds exclusive content and sports

Starting July 18, Peacock Premium will see a price increase from $4.99 to $7.99 per month, while the ad-free version, Peacock Premium Plus, will rise to $13.99 per month. These adjustments, which also affect annual subscriptions, will take effect for existing subscribers from August 17.

Despite the hike, NBCUniversal (NBCU) highlights the value offered by nearly 100,000 hours of content, including Universal films, next-day shows from NBC and Bravo, and Peacock originals. Noteworthy inclusions are the most-streamed movie, “Oppenheimer,” and popular series like “Ted” and “The Traitors.”

With the 2024 Paris Olympic Games approaching, Peacock promises unprecedented streaming coverage totaling 5,000 hours, enhancing viewer experience with features like Peacock Live Actions and Peacock Discovery Multiview.

Additionally, the platform is boosting its sports offerings with exclusive broadcasts such as the NFL’s opening game on September 6 in São Paulo, Brazil, featuring the Philadelphia Eagles versus the Green Bay Packers. Fans can also look forward to Premier League soccer, WWE, Big Ten sports, and more.

Recent and upcoming Peacock originals include “Apples Never Fall,” “Poker Face,” and “Day of the Jackal,” alongside sequels and new seasons of popular series such as “Bel-Air” and “Love Island USA.”

These enhancements and a strategic refocus on profitability reflect NBCU’s commitment to enriching its streaming service, which has grown to 34 million subscribers as of the first quarter of 2024.
