Petition is launched by Tory Lanez supporters, in attempt to appeal guilty trial verdict

Petition to appeal Tory Lanez guilty verdict surfaces

On Friday, one of the most anticipated moments in hip-hop of 2022 went down. This was the verdict in Tory Lanez’s Megan Thee Stallion shooting trial. He went on to be convicted on all charges, which include felony negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm.

As a result, Tory faces 22 years in prison. Deportation back to his home country of Canada is also on the table. However, he remains incarcerated in Los Angeles for now, at least until his sentencing.

But, plenty of Tory supporters are still around. Many on social media believe he isn’t guilty, and have even launched a petition on Change.Org. This is in an attempt to appeal his guilty verdict. So far, over 22,000 signatures have been accumulated.

“Tory Lanez was found Guilty of all charges and it is a true miscarriage of justice! The state did not prove that Lanez undoubtedly committed any crime. Reasonable doubt loomed over a 10 day trial as the prosecution was unable to show us that there were not alternative explanations of the events. A circus of speculation, insufficient evidence, inconsistencies, and drunken memories left us without much moral certainty of any truth.”
