Before the festivities of SXSW 2013 kicked off in Texas, Pharrell was in Los Angeles working on potential hits. Back in the early 2000s, Pharrell amassed immense fame and it was due to his string of hit singles with Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and T.I., among others. In recent years, Pharrell has taken a backseat to this new generation of producers.
Though he never really went anywhere, Pharrell has returned and he is working with the new crop of stars in addition to the veterans. At the top of the list for Pharrell, where newcomers are concerned, is Kendrick Lamar and Kid Ink. All-time favorites still include T.I., who he once named the Jay-Z of the South.
With Kendrick Lamar and Kid Ink being Los Angeles natives, it was nothing for them to meet up with Pharrell across town. The two emcees spent time in the studio with Pharrell, but they hit the studio at different times. Kendrick Lamar and T.I. shared a studio session with Pharrell and there was a separate session with Kid Ink.
