During the fall of 2010, Rick Ross was enjoying the success of his Teflon Don album, while scouting a few artists to sign to Maybach Music. While he was discussing several artists, Rick Ross was very interested in adding Wiz Khalifa to his label. Despite having a great relationship with Wiz Khalifa, the Pittsburgh emcee passed up on Maybach Music and signed with Atlantic Records.
Rick Ross went on to add Wale, Meek Mill, and Atlanta’s Pill to the label. Months later, Rick Ross revealed being turned down by Wiz Khalifa inspired him to sign more artists. During the summer of 2011, Rick Ross unleashed Maybach Music onto the hip hop world. The two artists who have stuck out the most amongst Ross, from Maybach Music, have been Wale and Meek Mill.
While Pill received a lot of media attention, early on, his name has not been mentioned as much and his mixtape cover came without the Maybach Music logo. Sitting down with The Boombox, Pill cleared the air, saying the rumors likely came from Twitter. Pill explained everybody with Maybach Music is working on new music, which has left them spread out.
Aside from his own solo material, Pill is recording a number of tracks, which will be looked over and possibly placed on the upcoming Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation album, which will be released in 2012.
