Preemo’s “In the Mix” Top Five Songs of the Week (February 18 – February 24, 2013)
By Preemo
Hip Hop Vibe Contributing Writer
Since the last edition was so successful, “In the Mix” has returned for yet another week to show the hottest songs of this week. Due to busy a busy day on Sunday, instead the world will be served with a late edition. Often said by the greatest though, better late than never, correct?
Nevertheless, there are more songs generating heat. When the last songs were counted down, the United States were celebrating the Grammys. Here in the United Kingdom, all roads pointed to the Brit Awards. Everyone in the United Kingdom was glued to their television sets watching Frank Ocean win the “International Male” award.
Special thanks to Hip Hop Vibe for sharing this space with “In the Mix.” For those who are still unaware, Hip Hop Vibe now syndicates broadcasts of “In the Mix” under the Audio section. There were almost twenty songs that could have been chosen, but these are the five who made the list for “In the Mix.”
Listen to “In the Mix’s” Top Five Songs of the Week below:
Joe Budden ft. Tank and Lil Wayne – “She Don’t Put it Down”
Joe Budden gets it poppin’ on this new release, alongside R&B heavyweight, Tank, and Young Money CEO, Lil Wayne. The Slaughterhouse punchline rapper delivers as only we know Joe can “Ass so big, I’m always on her mean side” over the twisted synths and a dirty south drum line. This is definitely going to run on radio be prepared for a video soon.
Pusha T, Raekown, Common, 2 Chainz – “The Morning”
When the morning come, you don’t want to be near this record as The Chef breaks down street economics over this reggae sampled street anthem. Pusha T continues his to deliver with his new mixtape Wrath Of Caine standing out for me this year and an appearance from Common is always a blessing (even with Illuminati references). Another G.O.O.D offering from former Clipse member, Pusha T’s, tape.
Fat Joe ft. Lil’ Wayne, A$AP Rocky & French Montana – “Yellow Tape”
Remember how amped you get when “Ante Up” by M.O.P comes on in the club? DJ Khaled gets that adrenaline level up to where it needs to be as he calls for attention before unleashing Fat Joe to get that work hyped up by Wayne and French.
Squeeks – “Big Squeeko”
This one is from Squeeks representing for the UK rap scene right now. Squeeks proceeds to tell you exactly why they call him Big Squeeko and if keeps pushing like this it’s only a matter of time before that Big is justified with money on his mind North London has got a star in it’s future.
5 M.I.C-Z – “Head Turna”
Checked this jam out earlier this week and with summer somewhere around the corner, this was the one for me. 5 is signed to BWD Records and this is entitled “Head Turna” by 5 M.I.C-Z
