Outrage occurred when Mobb Deep revealed they were signing with G-Unit Records, the record label run by 50 Cent. When they signed to the label, 50 Cent was embroiled in feuds with Jadakiss, Fat Joe, his own artist The Game, and their close friend Nas. Still, the duo signed with G-Unit and took on those feuds.
In the end, Mobb Deep proved to be the beginning of the end for G-Unit, as their album was the first, of many, to not go platinum. Soon, every artist except 50 Cent was dropped from the Interscope roster. In 2009, Interscope Records pressured 50 Cent to remove Mobb Deep from G-Unit.
However, the duo recently held talks to return to the label, before signing their new deal with Sony RED. Still, Mobb Deep maintains a good relationship with 50 Cent. Prodigy recently stopped by “Sway in the Morning” for Shade 45 and spoke on his greatest moments in the studio and his time with G-Unit with Sway Calloway and company.
