Prodigy talks past beef with Tupac on ThisIs50.com [VIDEO]

Hip hop historians often look back on the East Coast/West Coast feud and they soon begin conversing about The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Most overlook one major fact about the bicoastal feud, no disses were exchanged. The Notorious B.I.G. never dissed Tupac Shakur, other rappers exchanged disses.

In fact, the only rappers who dissed Tupac Shakur directly from the East Coast, who were involved with the feud was Mobb Deep. Prodigy was the primary rapper out of the duo who Tupac focused on. On “Hit Em Up,” Tupac mentions Mobb Deep, saying “oh yeah, Mobb Deep, fuck you too, don’t one of you niggas have sickle cell.”

ThisIs50.com sat down with Prodigy and he talked about the “LA LA” response to Tha Dogg Pound’s “New York New York.” This exchange is what prompted Jay-Z’s disses aimed at Mobb Deep. Prodigy talked to Young Jack Thriller about Tupac Shakur and he admitted he wanted to kill him at one point.
