Producer Jaywan claims Rick Ross is still owned by Slip-N-Slide, how MMG has no solid label deal, Trinidad James is broke, and more on Twitter
Few businesses have as many gritty details as the music business does. It takes tough skin to be involved in the business and a lot of people are nowhere near as big as they may appear. Many insiders know this, but keep the details to themselves for various reasons, but producer, Jaywan, decided to clear his conscience.
Jaywan went on Twitter and begin speaking the truth with a series of tweets saying “let’s talk about” and he broke down the dynamics of the game. Nipsey Hussle made $100,000 yesterday after selling 1,000 copies of Crenshaw. His profit, according to Jaywan, tops all of what his would-be label-mates at Maybach Music have.
Rocko’s independent success was brought up along with Trinidad James’ commercial success, which Jaywan claims only made him $80,000. Claiming Def Jam will never drop his album, Jaywan said Ted Lucas still owns Rick Ross’ publishing at 75% to be exact. Jaywan went on to explain Maybach Music.
Despite the popularity of Wale and Meek Mill, Jaywan pointed out their low album sales and Wale failing to come close to gold for the third time with The Gifted. Jaywan also explained only he and Meek Mill are signed to Atlantic Records, while all the others do not have any major label backing for their music, thus no albums have come out. In his series of tweets, Jaywan also said MMG has yet to produce any Forbes cash kings and that Self Made 3 has sold 60,000 copies to date.
Jaywan also went in on fellow producer, JStaffz, saying he paid for his Twitter verification and when he was called on this, he said he was just being honest.
