Pusha T talks recording for “Cruel Summer” with Semtex TV [VIDEO]

The focus of hip hop has been on Lil Wayne and Rick Ross over the past couple of years. Much of this credit goes to the two Southerners forming their own crews. Already highly popular, Lil Wayne unleashed Young Money on the world, with Drake and Nicki Minaj headlining. Rick Ross would similarly build his buzz and signed Wale and Meek Mill to Maybach Music. Systematically, Maybach Music became much more popular than Young Money during the summer of 2011.

Kanye West, after solely focusing on his own music for years, shifted some of his focus to G.O.O.D. Music. The label added Pusha T to the label and began marketing Big Sean. During the summer of 2011, Kanye West, Pusha T, and Big Sean all enjoyed much success, but they did not have much interaction. When the fall began, Big Sean announced G.O.O.D. Music would release their own compilation album in 2011. By the spring, their album was revealed to be Cruel Summer and 2 Chainz became an honorary member.

G.O.O.D. Music expanded upon the format laid by Young Money and Maybach Music, completly overshadowing both movements. Pusha T would also gain notoriety, releasing hit records and exchanging disses with Lil Wayne. During his recent trip to London, Pusha T would end up speaking to DJ Semtex, of Semtex TV. The Virginia emcee would speak to Semtex TV about the Cruel Summer album, saying he recorded over twenty verses for the album.
