Put It On Me: Ja Rule reunites with Lil’ Mo at the 2014 Essence Music Festival [PHOTO]

Ja Rule 10Hip hop’s first superstar of the new millennium was Ja Rule and he cranked out hit after hit and album after album. Switching up his style, Ja Rule invented and perfect the rap/R&B duet. Success was first had with Lil’ Mo, as she appeared on his breakout single, “Put It On Me (remix)” and “I Cry” off Rule 3:36.

Unfortunately, business entanglements with their record labels led to Ja Rule having to cut ties with Lil’ Mo. Initially, she was replaced by Jennifer Lopez, but due to the timing of those records, it looks like Ashanti was the replacement. However, what is true is that Irv Gotti decided to sign the singer to sing alongside Ja Rule.

Regardless, fans are nostalgic and they want to see Ja Rule alongside all of his former hitmakers. There will always be a soft spot for the Lil’ Mo days, as Ja Rule was still on the come up then. Ja Rule went to New Orleans for the 2014 Essence Music Festival and he ran into Lil’ Mo, posting the encounter on Instagram.
