Peer pressure is a real thing and it doesn’t end in school. The popularity has given peer pressure new life, impacting people well into adulthood, now. But, before social media, it was still very strong, and bullying is real.
Tonight’s episode of “Atlanta” touches on that, in a big way. As many have said, “Atlanta” is all over the place, this season, and fans shouldn’t expect to see any of the crew, this episode. Instead, this episode is based in the past, showing Earn and Alfred/Paper Boy as kids.
In the episode, Earn wants a FUBU shirt to “look cool” and his mom buys it for him. When he gets to school, his classmate has the same shirt, and the kids are determined to prove one of Earn or Devin is rocking a fake shirt. Earn and Al lie and people believe Devin has the fake shirt and the bullies beat him up, causing Devin to go home and kill himself, as his parents recently went through divorce.
