Singer R&B R Kelly was arrested in Chicago on federal sex crime charges. According to law enforcement official the Pied Piper performer was arrested by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigation agents. He is expected to be brought to New York to stand trial.
While spokespeople from the NYPD and Homeland Security Investigations declined to comment on the arrest, details regarding the o-going case are expected be released on Friday.
Attempts to contact a spokesman for R. Kelly were not immediately successful. Drea Kelly, the singer’s ex-wife, had no comment following the arrest, her rep said.
