R. Kelly sentenced to 20 years for sex crimes case in Chicago

R. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering, stemming from a case in Brooklyn. However, it appears that he will definitely be on his way to spending the rest of his life in prison.

Kelly was just sentenced to 20 years, for his federal sex crimes case in his hometown of Chicago, according to TMZ. 19 of the years will be served concurrent with his current sentence, and last year will be consecutive. Prosecutors are said to have initially asked for 25 years.

Kelly was initially found guilty on six of the 13 charges that were on the table. These were child pornography charges, but was able to avoid convictions of conspiracy and enticement. 10 sexual abuse charges were dropped. Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Fox explaining how cost was a factor, and Kelly is already likely to spend the rest of his life incarcerated.

Kelly was initially incarcerated in the summer of 2019. Earlier that year, his crimes were also exposed in the Lifetime series “Surviving R. Kelly.” A third installment of the series also went on to air, a month ago.
