R. Kelly sentenced to 30 years in NY federal sex crimes trial
R. Kelly has been incarcerated since the summer of 2019, for federal sex crimes that he’s committed, over the past three decades. Kelly also got exploded in the Lifefime documentary, “Surviving R. Kelly,” back in January 2019.
Kelly is facing charges in various states for these crimes, including in New York. His trial in Brooklyn wrapped up on Wednesday, as he was sentenced to 30 years in prison, per TMZ. Nine federal charges were on the table, including sex crimes and human trafficking. Kelly was initially convicted on all counts, last fall. He was even reportedly placed on suicide watch, at the time.
In these crimes that Kelly was convicted for, he reportedly had managers, bodyguards and assistants traffic victims, as he would go on to groom them, from young ages. Kelly will now have to deal with his federal case in Illinois, as well as his state case in Minnesota.
Despite Kelly’s many charges and other allegations, he still remains beloved, by many fans. He’s even seen fans protest for him, outside of the jails he’s been incarcerated in, over the last three years. Kelly attempted to get out of jail by citing health and COVID-19 reasons as well, but never worked out in his favor.
