Hip hop music fans of the late 1990s and early 2000s were robbed of potentially great music. This was due to R. Kelly, Jay Z, and the tension they had for some reason. In 2001, R. Kelly featured Jay Z on the “Fiesta” remix and the song was a runaway hit.
Previously, R. Kelly collaborated with Nas and Jadakiss, making dope records. After fans heard him with Jay Z, however, they demanded an entire album. Soon, Best of Both Worlds was born, but the promo on the album abruptly ended.
Making up for it, R. Kelly and Jay Z teamed up in 2004 for the sequel album, Unfinished Business. This album boasted a hit in “Big Chips,” but tension stopped the promo of the album, with Jay Z and R. Kelly beefing. In the aftermath, Ja Rule played cleanup man on both sides, but the beef was on.
Jay Z shared his thoughts on Kingdom Come, some years later, and the situation was since forgotten/overlooked. It received another look this week, however, as R. Kelly shared the Unfinished Business album cover on Instagram.
