R. Kelly Still Trying To Get Out Of Jail With Excuses Of Possibly Being Exposed to Coronavirus and Not Being Able To Prepare For Trial While Locked Up

R. Kelly said to prosecutors last week that he should be granted bond out of an Illinois jail due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and that he’s at high-risk to contract the virus. He also said that he can’t prepare for his sex crimes trial while incarcerated. Visitors currently aren’t allowed at MCC Chicago.

According to TMZ, prosecutors still aren’t trying to hear Kelly’s complains. In regards to COVID-19, they say that he’s not in the 65 or older age group who are most vulnerable to the virus. They also added that there’s plenty of sanitary supplies in jail and that no inmates at  have tested positive yet.

Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, believes that this jail will be infected with the virus soon. Court documents from him state that MCC Chicago is a “breeding ground for bacteria” and COVID-19 will spread quickly all over the facility. A judge hasn’t made a decision on bond yet but it might not happen due to prosecutors not being in support of Kelly being free. He recently sent a request to live with his girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage, in her apartment near an outdoor shopping mall.

Kelly is facing sex crimes involving underage women in Illinois, Minnesota, and New York. The Illinois trial will take place in October.
