R. Kelly’s Daughter Says She Stopped Going To College Because He Stopped Paying Tuition; Kelly Claims He Never Received Statements of Her Being Enrolled and Thinks She Dropped Out

R. Kelly continues to get caught up in legal issues, with the problem now involving his family. He’s obligated to pay for his daughter Joann Lee (Aka Buku Abi)’s academic expenses at a California art school but hasn’t been sending payments, as required. According to TMZ, he says he hasn’t been receiving billing statements or evidence that she’s enrolled in classes.

It all started last fall when Lee tried to register for classes but couldn’t because of unpaid bills. Kelly is required to handle payments for her classes until she’s 23. This is part of her child support agreement with ex-wife Andrea Kelly and he ended up cutting Lee off. Lee detailed her strained relationship with him back in January after the airing of Lifetimes ‘Surviving R. Kelly‘ docuseries.

Kelly also supposedly stopped sending her money to pay for her apartment as well which caused her to move out. Books for classes also had to be handled by her due to him not covering those expenses either.

Kelly’s Crisis Manager, Darrell Johnson, says that Kelly is in fact responsible for payments of her studies but they never in fact got billing payments or proof that she was enrolled in a school. Kelly thinks that she dropped out on her own. She does want to return to school though and is still looking for Kelly to somehow cover the costs.

R. Kelly is also facing 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault charges for underage girls and sex trafficking in his home state of Illinois so this could get him in even more hot water. He could very well be lying about how he’s not receiving notices about payments for her studies. It looks like it’s only a matter of time before Kelly is locked up for years.
