During the “Big Three” era, of the Boston Celtics, Rajon Rondo rose to become the leader of that team. The Celtics’ front office made a bold decision, as their stars aged. Their decision was to ship the older stars out and make Rondo the face of the franchise.
Rajon Rondo promptly led the Celtics to one of the NBA’s worst records and 2014 saw him traded. This span of time saw Rondo become a journeyman, playing in Dallas and Chicago. When he landed in New Orleans, he and Anthony Davis bonded, later both became Lakers.
In the 2020 NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers consistently dismantled teams. It was LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, but Rajon Rondo doing everything else, as the Lakers took out the Blazers, Rockets, Nuggets, and then Miami Heat for the title. Yesterday, rumors started about Rondo being targeted by the New York Knicks, in free agency.
On Twitter, fans clowned the Knicks for always targeting free agents, but never landing them, while Lakers fans want Rajon Rondo to stay and win another title with them, and Knicks fans wanting John Wall, Chris Paul, or Russell Westbrook, over Rajon Rondo.
