Reason announces departure from Top Dawg Entertainment

On Tuesday, Reason confirmed that he is no longer signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. This comes after apparent tension at the label, after Reason was  called out by TDE President Moosa, last fall, while Reason was in the middle of a live steamed interview. That moment included Moosa asking the hosts to name three songs by Reason.

Furthermore, Reason put out a lengthy statement, where he announced the TDE departure. Moreover, he also thanked his supporters, as he is back on the independent route as an artist again.

“THE LAST 7 YEARS HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLE, AND I’VE APPRECIATED ALL THE TIME AND EXPERIENCES THAT HAVE COME WITHIN THAT SPAN OF TIME. I CAN’T EVEN PUT INTO WORDS THE SURREAL FEELING I’VE HAD OF BEING ABLE TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS, EXPRESSIONS, EMOTIONS, STORIES, AND EXPERIENCES WITH YOU ALL THROUGH THE PLATFORM PROVIDED TO ME BY TOP DAWG ENTERTAINMENT. WITH THAT BEING SAID, IT COMES WITH GREAT APPRECIATION AND EXCITEMENT THAT I WANT TO ANNOUNCE MY SPLIT WITH TDE.”

Last August, Reason released his “Porches” album. This contained 17 songs, including features from SiR, Doechii, and more.
