Recap: “Total Slaughter” presented by Shady Films

Last night, Total Slaughter took place at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Battle Rap’s elite spectated one of their biggest events. Eminem and Shady Films decided to schedule a Pay Per View event that would be the first of it’s kind. This became “Total Slaughter.” The biggest names in battling were present
Co-Headlining the event would be one of the most anticipated rematches in battle rap. It was a match between Harlem legends, Murda Mook and Loaded Lux. As if the ultimate rematch wasn’t enough to get everybody’s attention, the main card features Joe Budden versus Hollow Da Don. It was the first ever mainstream versus underground battle. A lot of discussion on the internet centered around the battle between Joe Budden and Hollow Da Don.
Making battle rap mainstream has always been a tough task. To hype up the Pay Per View event Shady Films decided to create “Road To Total Slaughter” on Fuse TV. Such names as Dizaster, T-Rex, Math Hoffa, Marv Won, Cortez, Arsonal, Daylyt, Aye Verb, and Big T all were put in a house together making the band style. They went to war for a slot to battle live as the undercard on Pay Per View at Total Slaughter. The show helped build anticipation for the “Total Slaughter” event yesterday.
To make it even more interesting, they decided the show’s celebrity judges are Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9, Crooked I, and Joell Ortiz. They make up the group, Slaughterhouse, and brought in DJ Kay Slay to host. The guys put together some interesting matches, while in the house. With such short time to prepare many of the contestants did not make the cut. T-Rex and Daylyt were the two left standing and went on to battle at “Total Slaughter.”
