Remy Ma says Nicki Minaj’s success made other female rappers feel like they couldn’t compete, in 2016 #EssenceLive interview, only months before #ShETHER [VIDEO]
Looking back on it, there was a lot of tension between Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma, before “ShETHER.” Of course, there was a time, which was long before Nicki got famous, where she and Remy had beef. Then, there is the infamous video, of the person people think was Nicki…
Anyway, only dealing in the facts, though, Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma showed each other nothing but love, once Nicki was famous. At the time, unfortunately, Remy Ma was in prison. When she got out, both she and Nicki had kind words, and hints of a feature.
Despite being freed in 2014, Remy Ma didn’t immediately get into the spotlight, she and Papoose had family time, followed by their 2015 debut on “Love & Hip Hop.” In 2016, “All The Way Up” came, and then the whole Remy Ma/Nicki Minaj beef. But, here is an Essence interview from Remy, in 2016, where she speaks on the success of Nicki Minaj, and what it meant for other female rappers.
The girls admire Nicki. All of them do. These are facts. The hate comes from their insecurity. Let’s be clear. pic.twitter.com/TOoApqTZHF
