One of the first hip hop albums to be released this year was from Rick Ross. His third album, Deeper Than Rap, came early in the year. While the album was most-notable for containing the 50 Cent-diss record, “Mafia Music,” it received positive reviews as an album, overall.
Despite the influence of the album, it did not sell many copies. Still, the album was widely-promoted and one of the more notable hip hop releases of the year. Because of that Ross feels that it should have been nominated for a Grammy award. In the end, it was not.
Because of this, Rick Ross jumped on a remix to Beyonce’s “Video Phone” to express how he feels. Among other things, he says on the record that the people behind the Grammys are haters. On the song, he boasts about his album debuting at number one and all of the positive reviews that it received.
In addition to his own Deeper Than Rap, Rick Ross also released an album with the Triple C’s. His next album, Teflon Don, will be released in mid-2010.
