Sometimes Rick Ross does not receive the credit he deserves. Yes, Rick Ross is considered a commercial artist, but the same people who criticize him are the same people who love his music. Rick Ross found a lane that works for him and that’s why he is the biggest rapper in the game.
Underneath his Mafioso persona lies someone aware of the culture around him. When the Trayvon Martin situation first made national news, Rick Ross was among the first rappers to speak out. Usher’s “Lemme See” was the biggest song of the summer last year and Rick Ross used his verse to speak out against George Zimmerman.
Now that Zimmerman was found not guilty and pulled over with a gun in Texas, Ross has spoken out against him once again. Global Grind caught up with Rick Ross for a brief interview and he discussed George Zimmerman. Rick Ross said he is still enraged that he is free and spoke on the Trayvon Martin-inspired “I Wonder Why.”
