Maybach Music recently visited New York City and they visited Hot 97 to discuss a number of topics. There are several questions surrounding Rick Ross and MMG, as the crew is preparing for a new round of releases. Last year, Maybach Music signed a distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records and Wale released his Maybach Music debut, Ambition.

Meek Mill also had a breakout year in 2011, but he did not release an album. Instead, he rode his mixtape success into the mainstream, building a large following. Rick Ross has other artists on Maybach Music he is preparing to introduce. During his interview with Hot 97, Rick Ross spoke on past artists, current artists, the overall label, and his relationship with Def Jam.

Late last year, there was a lot of discussion about Pill, who was among the artists signed to Maybach Music. Starting off with bigger buzz than Wale and Meek Mill, Pill was soon an afterthought. In December 2011, Pill revealed he was never signed to Maybach Music and it was a promotional deal with Warner Bros. Rick Ross confirmed this story and had similar sentiments on Hot 97. In addition to discussing the Pill deal, Rick Ross said he has no idea if Pill is even on Warner Bros. anymore.

Surprising many, Rick Ross did not even consider Def Jam’s offer when he began searching for a label to distribute Maybach Music before he chose Warner Bros. Partnering with Warner Bros. Records, while still one of the biggest artists signed to Def Jam means Ross already has one foot out the door at Def Jam. Currently preparing to re-sign with Def Jam, there were rumors of Rick Ross having a disagreement with his label. Rick Ross diffused the situation, saying he quadrupuled his net worth over the past year and he felt Def Jam should acknowledge it when they offered him a new contract, which they did, so Ross said it was “all love.”
