Throughout his career, Rick Ross has defied the odds, first by gaining prominence on the Miami hip hop scene. Initially written off as a one hit wonder regional rapper, Rick Ross proved true star power when he held his own against 50 Cent. Then, he made his own empire.
Rick Ross came up watching and working with Ted Lucas, Jay Z, Diddy, and L.A. Reid. Watching them led Rick Ross to expand Maybach Music, turning Wale and Meek Mill into household names. Now, Rick Ross is coming up on ten years in the game.
A local Miami rapper, Rick Ross followed the mold and added artists from Philadelphia, D.C., and Chicago to his label. All the while, his debut album continued racking up sales and Port of Miami is now platinum, Rick Ross’ first platinum LP. He will celebrate this and the ten year anniversary with a concert live on Miami’s port on August 29 and it will be streamed on TIDAL.
