Rihanna to star in upcoming “Smurfs” film
Rihanna has been a major trending topic on social media, this year, for various reasons. She headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in February, in Glendale, AZ. It was there that she also revealed that she’s pregnant with her second child. This is Rihanna’s second child overall, as well as her second child with A$AP Rocky. The two initially welcomed their first child, last May.
As fans also wait for Rihanna to finally deliver a new album, she is also working on major movie roles. At the CinemaCon events currently happening in Las Vegas, it was revealed that Rihanna will appear in the new “Smurfs” movie from Paramount, which will hit theaters in 2025. Rih will play the role of Smurfette. In addition to Rihanna’s role here, she’s also set to produce in the film, as well as write music.
“Getting to do animation is a fun journey for me,” said Rihanna at CinemaCon. “I’m usually front and center with everything with my likeness […] but this was fun. I got to imagine, I got to show up in my pajamas in my third trimester, and be a blue badass. I hope this gives me a little bit of cool points with my kids one day.”
