#RIPBiggie: Fans celebrate the life and music of The Notorious B.I.G. nineteen years after his death

Nineteen years ago, The Notorious B.I.G. would have shut Twitter’s servers down. Of course, this was long before the evolution of the internet and social media. Regardless, this hour of the morning, the world woke up to shocking news of his shooting and death.

The Notorious B.I.G. was only weeks before releasing Life After Death, the ironically-titled sophomore album. His classic single, “Hypnotize,” had just hit radio. Legend has it, B.I.G. and his crew listened to this record just before he was fatally shot.

Thankfully, The Notorious B.I.G. shared his life and creative mind with the world. Because of this, he is never truly dead and his impact has transcended space and time. This morning, the social media world is giving Biggie their tributes with the #RIPBiggie hashtag.
