Robin Thicke and Pharrell lose lawsuit over “Blurred Lines” to Marvin Gaye’s family and are ordered to pay $7.4 million

Two years ago, Robin Thicke cemented his position as a force in R&B with his single, “Blurred Lines.” The song was the title track off Robin Thicke’s album in 2013 and topped Billboard for months. Easily, “Blurred Lines,” produced by and featuring Pharrell, alongside T.I., was the summer hit.
Robin Thicke owned the summer of 2013 and “Blurred Lines” was a song everyone enjoyed. Suddenly, however, there was a problem once the family of Marvin Gaye heard the song. They had an issue with the song sounding similar to “Got To Give It Up.”
A lawsuit was filed by Marvin Gaye’s family against Robin Thicke and Pharrell and it looked like they didn’t have a case. But, Marvin Gaye’s family, along with the media, refused to back down from the situation. This afternoon, what was once believed as impossible happened and Marvin Gaye’s family won the lawsuit.
