Roc Nation makes Billboard history with album releases

Hip hop died, really? It’s kind of hard to tell when J. Cole, Mac Miller, Kanye West, Wale and Jay-Z all drop albums within weeks of each other. Their albums solidified the run hip hop has been on. There also were great independent releases from such names as Funk Volume member, Jarren Benton.

But, Roc Nation has taken the cake with their takeover. Jay-Z established the #newrules and is almost double platinum in one week with Magna Carta Holy Grail. Wale has embraced his Roc Nation roots with The Gifted and J. Cole, Kanye West, and Wale all topped the charts at one time or another.

Now, for the first time in history, the top three albums on Billboard are hip hop albums. Even more impressive is that they all come from the same camp. This upcoming week, J. Cole will be at number one, Wale will be at number two, and then at number three there will be Kanye West. That is a hell of a run for hip hop, it is an honor to be a part of this.
