Arguably the most-iconic entertainment magazine in history, Rolling Stone began as a rock magazine. However, over the years, Rolling Stone has branched out and started covering hip hop, along with lifestyle. The primary hip hop artists who tend to grace the pages of Rolling Stone include Eminem, Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac.

Rolling Stone is closing the year of 2012 with an issue dedicated to hip hop. Counting down the fifty greatest hip hop songs, Rolling Stone has four covers that will be circulated. Featured on these covers are Eminem and Jay-Z, the living hip hop legends, along with the deceased The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.

Few rappers can spark the same type of discussions those four rappers can. Their features in Rolling Stone serve as evidence to the impact they have had, not only on hip hop, but American pop culture. Expanding its focus, Rolling Stone has morphed into a pop culture magazine.
