Russell Westbrook avoids LeBron James before tipoff
Russell Westbrook didn’t have the best chemistry with LeBron James, during his time with the Lakers. A couple of years ago, Russ was traded to the Lakers, and fans were excited. LA fans always dreamed of having Westbrook come home to play for the Lakers. However, when he finally arrived, he wasn’t efficient. As a result, he was waived, and eventually joined the Clippers. There, Westbrook has been a good fit. Last night, they played the Lakers, and Russ clearly avoided a LeBron pregame handshake.
Russell Westbrook is known for being one of the NBA’s toughest competitors. He is also known for having infamous breakups with high profile teammates. Much was said about the tension Westbrook had with Kevin Durant, when he left the Thunder. Indeed, the two did almost get into it in their first game as rivals. However, over the years, the two have appeared to have rebuilt a cordial relationship, at the very least.
Russell Westbrook was blamed for the Lakers’ struggles, including missing the 2022 postseason. After not even making the play-in, fans wanted Westbrook moved. When he was traded, fans said LeBron was behind the move. Eventually, he signed with the Clippers, and helped their 2023 postseason run. Last night was the first meeting between Russ’ Clippers and the Lakers. During the pregame, LeBron James greeted the Clippers’ players. As he did that, Russ stood on the opposite side of the court.
