Russell Westbrook is regaining his title as one of the NBA’s best players. While Westbrook is no longer an MVP level player, he is becoming the best at what he does. Finally, he bought into playing off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers. When Russell is on the floor, he is the franchise player that he always was. As a result, the Lakers have finally gotten back to winning games. Last night, they beat Westbrook’s former team, the Washington Wizards.

Russell Westbrook rose to fame putting the Oklahoma City Thunder on the map. Alongside Kevin Durant, they brought excitement to the NBA’s newest team. While not the newest franchise, the Thunder remain the league’s newest team. Within four years of existence, KD and Russ had the Thunder playing in the NBA Finals. However, from that moment on, the team began a slow slide, resulting in both players leaving. Westbrook became a journeyman, playing for the Rockets and Wizards before going to LA.

Russell Westbrook is now living up to the hype of being a Laker. After a horrendous 2-10 start, the Lakers have played well, at one point winning eight out of ten games. Injuries are slowing the Lakers down, however they are still finding ways to win. Last night, the Lakers needed a clutch shot to get the win over the Wizards. Before that, Westbrook tried to bring excitement to the game. He elevated and had Kristaps Porzingis on the poster, alongside Daniel Gafford, but he missed the dunk.
