In 2011, Kendrick Lamar took control of the game and did not look back. A collaboration with Game led to Kendrick Lamar becoming part of Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. In the time since then, the world has gotten to know the rest of Top Dawg Entertainment and that has started with ScHoolboy Q.
Top Dawg Entertainment centered their focus on Jay Rock in 2011, Kendrick Lamar in 2012, and in 2013, ScHoolboy Q is the focal point. His first major single, “Yay Yay,” has done impressively well, thus far. Many have been comparing ScHoolboy Q to his label-mate, Kendrick Lamar, as they are very competitive.
ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar recently were in Atlanta, where they talked to DJ Drama about their work. Since SXSW, the two have been on a roll with standout performances. The two also talked about MTV’s “Hottest MCs in the Game” and the missed collaboration with Nas. Kendrick Lamar did manage to snag Jay-Z, however.
