Although Lee Daniels has been around for some time, many have only recently discovered him. Some may still recognize him for Precious, but his new claim to fame is “Empire.” Set to return tomorrow, “Empire” is the wildly popular hip hop soap opera, starring Terrence Howard.

Lee Daniels definitely won fans over, with Howard and Taraji P. Henson playing his story out. But, not everyone is thrilled with the efforts of the popular TV producer. When he was defending allegations of his show’s star, Terrence Howard, Lee Daniels mentioned Sean Penn.

The topic was about men hitting women and Lee Daniels said the actions of Terrence Howard are no different than Marlon Brando or the aforementioned Sean Penn. Obviously, those comments hurt Sean Penn on many levels. Because of what he said, now Sean Penn is suing Lee Daniels for $10 million.
