Shannon Sharpe accidentally called Stephen A Smith Skip

Shannon Sharpe formed a powerful duo with Skip Bayless for the better part of a decade. Prior to their show, Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith were a strong duo over at ESPN. However, the summer of 2016 saw Skip leave ESPN for Fox Sports 1. Alongside Shannon Sharpe, they turned FS1 into a sports destination. However, Shannon Sharpe became the unexpected star of the show. As a result, he left their show, “Undisputed,” in the summer of 2023. In an add turn of events, he’s now doing “First Take” alongside Stephen A. Smith.

Shannon Sharpe launched his “Club Shay Shay” podcast and it took off. Currently, Sharpe has a huge fan base, just within his own network. As a result, there was speculation about he and Skip Bayless having friction. Soon, it was obvious by watching their show, that Shannon and Skip were not getting along. The two began having very loud arguments on the show. One episode saw Skip go too far. After that, Sharpe received a public apology from him.

Shannon Sharpe made it clear he has no issues with Skip Bayless. In addition, that is not his reason for leaving the show. However, he did see an opportunity to expand his brand outside of just doing “Undisputed.” For that reason, Shannon Sharpe chose to leave. In a sense of irony, Sharpe moved over to ESPN, essentially taking Skip’s role at “First Take.” When he was debating with Stephen A. Smith, Sharpe accidentally called him “Skip.”
