Issues with the police haven’t just begun. But, people, over the past decade, or so, have gotten more comfortable speaking out about it. Add to that, most cities mandating their police officers turn their bodycams on.
Bodycam footage being released has shown many police officers in controversial situations. This has led to some activists calling for the total defunding of the police. For a long time, there have been calls for police reforms.
On Twitter, “She’s 9” has trended for most of the morning, alongside #DefundThePolice. This is due to Rochester, NY’s police department releasing bodycam footage, showing officers manhandling a nine-year-old girl. The officers, responding to a family disturbance call, arrested the girl, and her mother, pepper-spraying and handcuffing the child, forcing her into the car.
