Shyne and Diddy share a complicated history. In 1997, Bad Boy Records went through upheaval. Until 1997, The Notorious B.I.G. was Bad Boy’s flagship artist. When Biggie passed away, Mase emerged as the new flagship. However, Mase was supposed to be another roster spot.
Shyne emerged after Mase abruptly retired. Mase gave up making music, at the height of his career, to become a minister. In 1999, Shyne made his debut, but then he got involved in a shooting. As a result, Shyne would spend the next decade in prison.
Shyne was released from prison in 2009 and he had issues with Diddy. After a series of tweets, Shyne wound up deported to Belize. During this time, Shyne and Diddy repaired their friendship. As a result, Shyne moved on with his life, moving from music, and into politics. Currently, Shyne serves in the Belize House of Representatives. With the BET Awards giving Diddy the Lifetime Achievement award, Shyne performed. This was enough for Shyne to trend on Twitter, as fans were surprised to see him in a suit. As Shyne performed, he announced he was running for Prime Minister of Belize.
