A popular 2000’s teen star is finally telling her personal story for the first time. Singer JoJo, is telling it all as she announces her debut memoir Over The Influence. The 33-year old star is finally revealing her musical journey, as well as personal health and mental struggles. With a career dating back to the tender age of 13, JoJo’s story is one fans are anxious to read.

Starting back in 2004, JoJo burst on the r&b scene with her debut album JoJo. Displaying a voice and style that was far beyond her years, the single “Get Out” earned her platinum status. She followed up with her second smash hit “Little Too Late”, adding to her Billboard charting streak. Although JoJo was topping the charts under Blackground Records, she left to sign with Atlantic Records. Under Atlantic she released an EP III and an album Mad Love, which became her third top ten album. In addition to music, JoJo has appeared in several films and tv shows including Aquamarine, R.V. and The Bernie Mac Show.

Despite JoJo’s blossoming career, she heavily dealt with depression on and off the big stage. JoJo elaborated via Twitter with fans on the process behind the book. In a new interview with People Magazine, she expresses that themes of ”generational trauma, stamina, spirituality and resilience are in the memoir”. Over The Influence is available for purchase September 7th, 2024.
